SSI Fraud

by Rebecca Gorlin
(Boston)

What pisses me off, and is fraud to me, is when people who are not low-income or disabled can get on SSI fairly easily, but most people who are poor and/or disabled are denied. In their attempt to reduce what they call fraud (not how poor and/or disabled people define it), the Social Security Administration makes sure that as few people as possible who really need SSI/SSDI get it. The same is also true of other government assistance programs such as welfare.
