Personally I think that everyone is different, and that there are always different circumstances for each individual person. It really depends on what the person wants. If a family is considering getting their baby a cochlear implant that is up to them. I do feel like the child should have a say in the matter, but if it's a baby they can't tell their parents, they haven't even developed the the ability to understand what a cochlear implant is. If the parents want their child to get a cochlear implant, but want the child's opinion then they can wait and ask them when they are older. If they just want to go ahead and get their infant the cochlear implant right away I think parents should teach them ASL too that way they can still be a part of the Deaf culture. Bottom line is to stop hating.
