Art Washburn, Ph.D.

by Art Washburn
(Del Norte, CO)

Wow! What a poignant story from Darren's Dad. I've taught in residential schools for the deaf. as well as Gallaudet, and also taught in day school programs for deaf and hard of hearing students. I can tell you, without any doubt, that there needs to be a "critical mass" of deaf students in a program to make that program viable and meaningful for the individual deaf student. To be a single deaf student in a hearing school just doesn't cut it.
