I am a hearing person and have been studying ASL for only a year. But I believe that the decision to get a cochlear implant is solely based on personal preference. I will not act like I understand what it is like to be deaf or the struggles that deaf people face in the hearing world, because I don't. The only thing I understand and know, whether your deaf or hearing,is that the decision to recieve an implant is based on choice because in reality that person will have to live with their decision and be happy with the outcome.
